Sanjay Kapoor recently looked back at his journey in Bollywood and shared an honest account of how unpredictable the movie industry can be. Despite starring in huge box-office hits during the 1990s, the actor revealed that giving hit films did not automatically translate into long-term career stability or endless project offers.
He reflected on his overall career graph, and pointed out how starkly different the film business is today compared to when he was working as a mainstream hero.
Speaking about his 1999 hit romantic drama Sirf Tum, in an interview with Digital Commentary, Sanjay expressed surprise over how things unfolded right after its theatrical run.
Even though the movie turned out to be a huge success and continues to hold a special place in pop culture after nearly three decades, no producer approached him with fresh film offers immediately after its release. The actor honestly admitted that he was not flooded with major projects and chose to wait for quality roles rather than signing mediocre scripts.
Comparing his experience to the current era, Sanjay noted that young actors today who deliver a few box-office hits can easily secure brand endorsements and lucrative projects that safeguard their careers for years.
The actor also touched upon the unfair criticism he often received regarding box-office failures. He shared that while people were quick to blame him whenever a movie failed, very few gave him credit when his films achieved monumental success.
