Vikram, in a new interview, recalled the time when he nearly lost his ability to walk after a motorbike accident.
Vikram, known for his stellar performances on screen, had to go through his share of struggles before he became a force to be reckoned with in Tamil cinema. In one of his recent interviews, the ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ star looked back at the time when a serious injury left him contemplating whether he would even be able to walk again.
Vikram couldn’t walk for four years when he was injured in a motorbike accident and underwent 23 surgeries before he went on to establish himself as a star.
In a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, the ‘I’ actor recalled, “My life has been a struggle from the day I was born,” he said. He continued, “I had an accident, I was bedridden for three years, I was on crutches for one year, I didn’t walk for four years. I had 23 surgeries. They wanted to cut my leg. Then I struggled for 10 years to get a film, do it on my own, and every film of mine would have 20 people in the audience. I wanted somebody to recognize me, to say that I can be an actor.” He said that his ‘worst’ nightmare is his life turning out to be a dream.
Further, the Tamil star said that when he met his wife for the first time, she thought that he had delusions of grandeur because even though he was on crutches, he had claimed that he was going to become a superstar one day. He also recalled playing background artists early in his career, and then dubbing for other stars in Tamil versions of their movies.
Speaking about work, Vikram was recently seen in Pa Ranjith’s Thagalaan alongside Malavika Mohanan. The actor essayed three different roles in the film.
