Vicky Kaushal, in a recent interview, expressed his desire to play a ‘full-blown’ negative character on screen.
Vicky Kaushal made a promising debut with Neeraj Ghaywan’s acclaimed film Masaan in 2015. But it was Aditya Dhar’s war drama Uri: The Surgical Strike (2019) which established him as a bonafide star. With his handsome looks and sharp acting chops, the actor soon carved his niche in the film industry.
From romantic drama, comedies to horror, Vicky has dabbled with every genre. But, the Bollywood star is yet to play a baddie on screen. Recently, in an interview with Mid-day, the Zara Hatke Zara Bachke actor expressed his desire to take up a full-blown negative character.
Vicky told the publication, “I would love to (play a vicious villain) on screen because there is so much like, and you would have heard this from many actors because it’s probably true, that there is so much rush in that like you know, there’s so much…I don’t know like it just sounds fun to get to play a full-blown negative character. So, I don’t know when that will happen but I really like you know love to.”
When pointed out how most of the roles which he has done so far, exude a certain sense of innocence and asked if that stems from the person he is in real life, the actor replied, “I think so. I would like to believe so until and unless it’s tested by a dark character which I get to play. I don’t know when.”
Explaining his process as an actor, he continued, “I feel, in every character, there is an honesty. In every person around us, there is an honesty. They have their own reasons to believe that they are sincere and honest and innocent in some way. That innocence is what makes for me, it is always the trait which brings a character alive. So, even if it’s not there on the surface, I try to find that in every character I play because that innocence will make every emotion feel real and honest. For me, that’s how I approach any character and I guess that’s what reflects eventually in every character I get to play.”
On the work front, Vicky’s latest release The Great Indian Family is currently running in theatres. The family entertainer also stars Manushi Chhillar, Kumud Mishra and Manoj Pahwa in pivotal roles.
