Triptii Dimri opened up on how she was deeply affected by the criticism after the release of Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal in which she played a pivotal role.
Known for her acclaimed performances in films like Bulbbul and Qala, Triptii took everyone by surprise with her foray into mainstream cinema with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal headlined by Ranbir Kapoor.
While her extended cameo in this film turned her into an overnight sensation, the actress too faced backlash for her bold scenes with her co-star Ranbir, and a controversial scene where her character is asked to lick the main protagonist’s shoe.
Recently when Triptii made an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the actress opened up on she was deeply affected by the wave of negativity that came her way after Animal’s release.
Triptii said that prior Animal, she had people writing only ‘good things’ about her when she did Bulbbul and Qala. However, post this Ranbir Kapoor film, she was exposed to a lot of criticism which deeply affected her.
The ‘Bad Newwz’ actress said, “I always read all the comments, and I remember for a month I couldn’t understand what was happening. I just did my job, couldn’t understand why was I getting so much negativity. It was a difficult month for me, because half of the world was celebrating me and the other half was trying to put me down. I was focusing more on the negative than the positive.”
Further, Triptii shared that she cried a lot after Animal as she had never faced criticism of this magnitude in the past.
“I cried a lot after Animal, for at least two-three days. I was not used to this at all. This happened all of a sudden, and I never expected I would have to face criticism of this magnitude. People were writing rubbish, and you know how nasty they can get,” she recalled.
Triptii revealed that her sister helped her to process the backlash, and advised her to stop dwelling her on the negativity by reminding her how she alone knew how hard she had worked to achieve this success.
The actress said, “I am a sensitive person, if I have a fight with someone, I go into a shell. So, even then, I was getting affected a lot. I didn’t know what to focus on, there was so much happening, including work. There was no time to sit down and process.”
Triptii reflected upon her emotional reaction and shared, “Sometimes, crying is the body’s way of telling you to release your trauma.” The actress said that she understood things and felt much better after allowing herself that emotional release.
On the professional front, Triptii is currently busy with the promotions of her upcoming film, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video in which she is paired opposite Rajkummar Rao. She also has Kartik Aaryan-Vidya Balan starrer Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 in the pipeline for release.
