Venkat Prabhu, director of the upcoming Tamil film, GOAT, talked about why he picked up this title for this Thalapathy Vijay-starrer. He also shared a little ‘surprise’ that’s awaiting for fans in the film.
Ever since the trailer of Thalapathy Vijay‘s GOAT (acronym for Greatest Of All Time) released online, fans can’t wait to watch their beloved Tamil superstar in his second-last film. The much-anticipated movie which features him in dual roles, is expected to set the cash registers ringing at the box office.
Amidst this, the film’s director Venkat Prabhu, in an interview with Hindustan Times, opened up on his upcoming film. When asked about his experience of working with Vijay, he admitted that initially, he was a bit scared, but the actor made him feel extremely comfortable, and he was back to his usual self after a few days. He called it a ‘truly wonderful experience’.
Elaborating on Thalapathy’s acting process, he shared, “He is someone who is so professional and comes prepared to the set. He is very observant and he’ll be sitting quietly looking around him on set. And when he comes in front of the camera and you call action, he just becomes so energetic and delivers a perfect shot. This is quite remarkable.”
On being asked why he choose to name his film, GOAT, Venkat explained, “One of the characters in the film is named Gandhi and he’s known as the greatest of all time for the things he does. And I thought this was a good title for the film as well.”
He said that as a director, he wanted to treat fans and audience with a memorable film of Vijay since the latter is bidding adieu to cinema.
“Even today, the audience and Ajith fans talk about Mankatha and I wanted to make a film like that with Vijay. I believe I have made a memorable film and I can’t wait for the audience to watch it,” he told the news portal. Calling GOAT an wholesome family entertainer, he said that his film encompasses everything from sentiment to comedy to action to romance to songs.
Further, Venkat Prabhu dropped a surprise that they have remixed an Ilayaraja song for Vijay in film.
GOAT is slated to hit the theatrical screens on September 5, 2024. The film is also scheduled to release with dubbed versions in Hindi and Telugu.
