Shahid Kapoor, in a new interview, shared that he wasn’t satisfied with his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 film, Padmaavat.
Shahid Kapoor had a candid confession to make in one of his recent interviews. The Farzi actor revealed that he was unhappy with his performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s 2018 magnum opus, Padmaavat. For the unversed, Shahid essayed the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh in this period drama which also featured Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles.
In a chat with Humans Of Bombay, when Shahid was asked to name one character of his that he would like to revisit and play differently, the actor picked up his role of Maharawal Ratan Singh from Padmaavat.
Explaining the reason behind the same, he said, “I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality, I got stuck in a headspace. I am being candid, maybe other people liked me, but I did not.”

Previously, in another interview, Shahid had said that felt like an outsider on the sets of Padmaavat. The actor was quoted as saying, “I’m used to being the favourite of all my filmmakers. This was the first time that I was like an outsider. When you work with a team that has worked together, you are kind of an outsider and it takes time for you to break through that barrier.”
Padmaavat which featured Deepika Padukone in the titular role, is based on the epic poem of the same name by Malik Muhammad Jayas. The film revolves around Queen Padmavati who is happily married to a Rajput ruler until a ruthless Turko-Afghan ruler, Alauddin Khalji, declares war on their kingdom due to his obsession with her. The film upon its release, was declared a major commercial success.
Coming back to Shahid Kapoor, the actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming action-thriller, Bloody Daddy which marks his first collaboration with Ali Abbas Zafar.
