Samyutha, at a recent press conference, slammed the sexist tags that are often conferred on actresses based on the success or the failure of their films.
Samyutha recently called out the sexist tags that is often given to heroines in the Telugu film industry based on the success or failure of their movies at the box office.
At a recent press meet, the actress reacted strongly when a reporter referred to her as a ‘heroine with golden leg’ after delivering three hits in a row. On being quizzed if she is getting offers and that she agrees with being identified as a ‘heroine with golden leg’, Samyuktha dismissed this notion and criticized the concept as ‘bad’.
She responded by saying, “It’s a very bad concept. To call a heroine golden leg or iron leg. Whether a film succeeds or flops, the responsibility falls on everyone in the film. It feels like they’re putting us down saying that we are only getting success because we’re lucky. The women put in a lot of effort behind choosing the rights scripts and doing the right performance. The success we get is based on these factors. This is what I feel.”

Speaking about the ‘golden leg’ or ‘iron leg’ tag, she continued, “I think it’s an age-old concept and we should keep it aside. Don’t take women because she’s lucky. Casting should be done on the basis she’s suitable for a character.”
Samyutha’s latest release, Virupaksha is currently running in theatres. The supernatural thriller also stars Sai Dharam Tej in a leading role. Her last film, Dhanush starrer Vaathi (Sir in Telugu) was a huge box-office hit.
