At the trailer launch of his upcoming film Animal, Ranbir Kapoor talked about how his late father Rishi Kapoor ‘subconsciously’ ended up becoming his reference point for his character in this Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s upcoming revenge thriller Animal headlined by Ranbir Kapoor has been the talk of the town ever since the makers announced this exciting collaboration. After a long wait, the trailer of this much-anticipated film was finally unveiled at a lavish event in New Delhi.
Going by this first sneak-peek, Animal showcases a violent world set against the backdrop of a troubled relationship between Arjun Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) and his father Balbir Singh (Anil Kapoor).
At the trailer launch event of the film, Ranbir recalled how he ‘subconsciously’ remembered his late father Rishi Kapoor when he was shooting for Animal.
The ‘Brahmastra’ actor shared, “Whenever I used to meet Sandeep, I used to ask him to give me a reference for my character. I have never felt things like this and subconsciously I remembered my father. I think the way he used to talk, he was a very passionate, aggressive man. So I have tried to take that from my father.”
Further, Ranbir also recalled how he ran to the bathroom after Sandeep Reddy Vanga narrated the script of this film.
The actor said, “I think Sandeep narrated Animal‘s story to me around three and a half years ago. Back then, after hearing the narration, I was momentarily speechless and immediately ran to my bathroom. I was looking at the mirror and contemplating whether I could truly do justice to the character. See, I don’t want to use the word dark because dark has a really negative meaning to it. But, this is one such character that I have never heard before.”
When asked to describe the film, Ranbir called it an ‘adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham‘ and said, “If I had to describe this story in a line, then it’s about a man who goes to any length to protect his family. That’s what the core of the film is.”
Besides Ranbir Kapoor, Animal also features Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna and Tripti Dimri in pivotal roles.
