Rajkummar Rao shared an update on Stree 3 in a recent interview.
Rajkummar Rao is riding high on the success of his last theatrical release Stree 2 which hit the big screens in August this year. The sequel to the 2018 horror comedy Stree smashed records at the box office and emerged as the highest grossing Hindi film of 2024.
Now, fans are eagerly awaiting for the third film in this highly popular franchise. In a recent interaction with News18 Showsha, the film’s leading man Rajkummar Rao spilled the beans on Stree 3.
Speaking about how the makers want to focus more on creating quality content rather than on the hype, the actor shared that while Stree 3 is definitely on the cards, it won’t be happening ‘anytime soon’.
Rajkummar shared, “Stree 3 will certainly happen but not anytime soon. We won’t be making it next year for sure because we don’t want to make just a project. Sometimes, a film does well and you would want to encash on it by making a second or a third part and you end up making it in a hurry. There’s a reason why we took six years to come up with Stree 2 after the first film.”
At the same time, the ‘Srikanth’ actor also clarified that Stree 3 won’t take much time like Stree 2.
“Stree 3 will also take some time but definitely not six years. Till the time Amar (Kaushik; director), the writers, Dinoo (Dinesh Vijan; producer) and the whole team don’t come up with a great story, we don’t want to rush into it. We don’t want to make a film that leads people to say that the franchise value, quality or standard is going down. We want to keep pushing our boundaries and take part three a notch above,” Rao was quoted as saying.
Further, the actor also shared that his role of Vicky is very close to his heart because he relates so much to his goofiness and simplicity.
Rajkummar said, “I relate so much to Vicky’s goofiness and simplicity. There’s nothing bad in his heart. He’s so pure. At the same time, he can have a lot of fun with his friends. I’m that guy as well. But I don’t think I’ll ever fall in love with a ghost.”
Stree 2 stars Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles with cameos by Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan. The film also boosts of a special dance number performed by Tamannaah Bhatia.
