Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran essay the role of childhood friends-turned-foes, Deva and Prabhas in Prashanth Neel’s ambitious film Salaar. While we already got a glimpse of their equation in Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire (2023), there’s more to come in the film’s second part, Salaar: Part 2- Shouryanga Parvam.

Recently on the first anniversary of Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire, Prashanth Neel graced a special interview wherein he got candid about his directorial. The director shared that it was Prabhas’ perspective that brought an important change in his film.

Prashanth said, “I can’t share the exact details because it features in the second part. But what I can tell is that he changed the perspective on how we look at the relationship between Deva (Prabhas) and Varadha (Prithviraj Sukumaran).”

“Genuinely, Prabhas is phenomenal with drama. He understood that I came from KGF. So, he didn’t concentrate on the key moments of the film, but he looks for the drama always,” he said while talking about how Salaar which was originally supposed to be a standalone film, later became a two-part film.

Further, Prashanth said that Prabhas was particular about the ending of Salaar, and how it lead to the happenings of Part 2. “He was very particular about that one moment,” the director recalled.

He mentioned that the intriguing part of Salaar 2 is that if it’s the innocence that made Deva and Varadha the best of friends, it’s that very thing which makes them enemies as well.

“I am very excited for the world to know what is that moment that facilities this changeover. I think my best bits of writing is when they have to become enemies. It is a very emotional moment,” the KGF director shared.

Salaar: Part 2- Shouryanga Parvam, backed by Hombale Films, is currently in pre-production stage.
