After the critically acclaimed Karnan, Dhanush and director Mari Selvaraj are teaming up again for a film.
On the second anniversary of Karnan, Dhanush dropped a surprise for his fans by announcing his reunion with the film’s director Mari Selvaraj for a new film. The yet-to-be-titled movie will be bankrolled by Dhanush’s Wunderbar Films, marking the banner’s return to production after a four-year hiatus.
Mari Selvaraj took to his Twitter handle to make announcement and wrote, “Extremely overwhelmed to announce this on the same day as Karnan’s release. I am exhilarated and filled with gratitude in joining hands with @dhanushkraja sir once again.” On the other hand, Dhanush called the project ‘prestigious’ and ‘special for many reasons.’
Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for more updates on this ambitious project.
Recently, Mari Selvaraj attended a special event organised by Dhanush fans in Chennai in which he spilled the beans on his upcoming project with the Vaathi star.
The filmmaker revealed that he will begin work on this Dhanush starrer after completing his yet-to-be-titled sports venture with Dhruv Vikram.
According to a report in Galatta Plus, Selvaraj said, “This project was planned much earlier. We weren’t able to begin production due to a few unexpected reasons. It’s a happy news that Dhanush Sir is producing the film under his Wunderbar Films banner. That was an update even I didn’t expect. As of now, I’m going to begin work on my film with Dhruv Vikram. Once that film gets completed, I will start Dhanush sir’s project.”
Calling it an important film in his cinema journey, he added, “It will be a big leap and it’s the reason why I didn’t start the film. It cannot be made immediately. It’s a historical film and an important one. Even I had a fear as I felt I needed to become mature enough to make this film. I had to elevate myself and learn cinema for that. After Karnan, there will be big expectations as Dhanush Sir and I are reuniting. Apart from fulfilling the expectations, I too have to go to the next level. And, for that, I needed some time. Dhanush Sir believes this is a big film and it will live up to his expectations.”
Currently, Dhanush is busy working on his upcoming film, Captain Miller which is helmed by Arun Mateshwaran. He also has a film with Sekhar Kammul and his 50th film tentatively titled D50 which will be produced by Sun Pictures, in the pipeline.
