Kriti Sanon talked about how she was labeled ‘Tiger Shroff’s heroine’ after Heropanti and had to work hard for people to remember her name and face.

After making her acting debut with Mahesh Babu’s Telugu psychological thriller 1: Nenokkadine, Kriti Sanon forayed into Bollywood with Sajid Nadiadwala’s romantic action film Heropanti (2014) in which she was cast opposite Tiger Shroff. The movie also marked Tiger’s Bollywood debut.

Recently in an interview with Indian Express, Kriti opened up on how it took her years to get rid of the tag of ‘Tiger Shroff’s heroine’, and had to work ‘doubly hard’ to make sure that people recognized her.

The ‘Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya’ actress reflected upon her acting journey and said, “It didn’t take me that many years to get my first break. At the time of Heropanti, though people knew Tiger and that the movie marked his launch, the director and producer treated the movie as launching two new faces. I got the quintessential Bollywood heroine moment too, with songs and everything.”

Kriti continued, “However, for a while after that, people referred to me as ‘the one who appeared in Tiger Shroff’s movie.’ When you are not from the industry (film family), it takes longer for you to etch you name and face into the minds of people.”

She recalled how the kids of Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, the director of her film Bareilly Ki Barfi would refer to her as ‘Tiger didi’, and added, “Those were the instances when I realised I would have to work doubly hard to get people to recognise me and know me for who I am.”

Kriti Sanon is currently busy promoting her upcoming Netflix thriller Do Patti which stars her in a dual role. Co-starring Kajol and Shaheer Sheikh, the actress also marks her debut as a producer with this film.
