Kartik Aaryan opened up on the underwhelming performance of his 2023 film Shehzada.
Allu Arjun-Pooja Hegde’s 2020 Telugu entertainer Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo was a major box office success. Following this, the film was remade in Hindi by Rohit Dhawan as Shehzada Kartik Aaryan with stepping into Allu Arjun’s shoes and Kriti Sanon reprising Pooja Hegde’s role from the original film.
Unfortunately unlike its Telugu counterpart, Kartik-Kriti’s film failed to meet the expectations of the audience, and was received poorly by the audience. The action entertainer made a lifetime collection of Rs 32.20 crore at the Indian box office and was declared a ‘flop’.
Recently in an interaction with Pinkvilla, Kartik addressed the box office failure of Shehzada and revealed, “For Shehzada, which didn’t work, we were facing a crisis from before its release.”

Further talking about how his name was added to the list of producers of the film, the ‘Chandu Champion’ actor shared, “They were gracious enough to give me producer credits. I didn’t want to take it, but I invested in a few things during the making, so they gave me producer credits. I just wanted to save my film, selfishly. I try to safeguard my movies in all ways possible.”
Shehzada follows the story of Bantu (Kartik Aaryan) whose life turns upside down after he realizes that he is a heir to a billionaire, and was switched at birth by his conniving father. The film also featured Manisha Koirala in a pivotal role.
Currently, Kartik Aaryan is awaiting the release of his upcoming horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 helmed by Anees Bazmee.
