Suchitra Krishnamoorthi shared an interesting anecdote from the sets of her 1994 film Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa co-starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepak Tijori.
Kundan Shah’s 1994 romantic comedy Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa is considered to be one of Shah Rukh Khan’s most memorable films and continues to be loved by the audience across generations. Co-starring Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and Deepak Tijori, the film is also popular for its chartbuster songs like ‘Ae Kash Ke Hum’, ‘Aana Mere Pyaar Ko’ and ‘Woh Toh Hai Albela’, amongst others.
Recently, in a chat with Bollywood Hungama, the film’s leading lady Suchitra Krishnamoorthi who essayed the role of Anna recalled an anecdote from the sets where she ended up slapping her co-star Shah Rukh Khan multiple times for a scene. The actress shared that she burst into tears while filming that sequence as she didn’t want to slap him anymore. Her co-star, on the other hand, stood there like a gentleman without saying a word.
For the unversed, the scene in question arrives just after ‘Ae Kaash Ke Hum’ song where Anna ends up slapping Sunil (Shah Rukh Khan). Since Suchitra couldn’t get that scene right in the first take, she had give multiple takes for which she had to slap King Khan multiple times.
Suchitra told the portal, “It took a lot of takes and I started crying because I had to slap Shah Rukh and it was going take after take and finally I started crying because I couldn’t do it any more. Kundan was particular that it should be real, we didn’t use to do play-acting. And Shah Rukh, being the gentleman that he is, didn’t say anything. But I could see he was going backwards.”
Further, the actress shared that coming-of-age drama was made on a small budget and the cast and crew used to stay in Goa Tourism guest house. She further added that there was very less budget even for cold drinks and sandwiches.
Besides Shah Rukh Khan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi and Deepak Tijori, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na also features Naseeruddin Shah, Satish Shah, Anjan Srivastav, Rita Bahaduri and Sadiya Siddiqui in pivotal roles. The film revolves around a dreamer who falls for a girl who is in love with someone else and tries to create a rift between them.
