Atlee who helmed Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan, opened up on how this one scene from the film left some Hollywood directors and technicians mighty impressed.
Atlee, the man behind Tamil blockbusters like Theri, Mersal and Bigil, recently made his directorial debut in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. The mass entertainer upon its release was well received by the critics and the audience alike. Not just that, it even made massive records at the box office.
Well, it’s not only the Indian audience who is impressed with Shah Rukh Khan‘s recent outing. Recently, in an interview with Film Companion, the film’s director Atlee shared how he received a call from Hollywood after some directors and technicians there loved one of the action scenes from the film.
The filmmaker said in his interview, “People who worked on our film were from Hollywood. Action director Spiro Razatos worked with us. So, Spiro and other great director and technicians from Hollywood were at the same screening of Jawan. And Spiro said I have done action in this film. So, they asked who has done that scene where SRK is engulfed in flames. He said, ‘It was the director’s vision and he executed it.’”
He continued, “So they immediately connected with me and told me, ‘If you want to work in Hollywood, let us know,’ so it isn’t a taste which is very desi. It is something super heroic and it has a very basic rhythm. I thought this idea only works for us but it is working globally.”
In the same interview, Atlee also opened up on his experience of directing King Khan in his Hindi directorial debut and said that he was as comfortable as Shah Rukh’s, Aryan Khan, would have been if he would have directed him. He also called the superstar ‘a man of love and heart.’
Jawan features Shah Rukh Khan in a dual role. The film also features Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra and Priyamani, amongst its ensemble cast, along with an extended guest appearance by Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt.
