Janhvi Kapoor, in a new interview, opened up on her experience on the sets of her Telugu debut Devara in which she is paired opposite Jr NTR.
After making her acting debut with Shashank Khaitan’s tragic romance Dhadak alongside Ishaan Khatter, Janhvi Kapoor won hearts with her impressive performances in films like Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, Good Luck Jerry, Mili and Bawaal. Now, the young actor is all set to take the Telugu film industry by storm with Koratala Siva’s upcoming film Devara.
The action entertainer has Janhvi sharing screen space with RRR star Jr NTR for the first time with Saif Ali Khan stepping in to play the main antagonist, Bhaira. In her latest interview with Gallata Plus, Janhvi revealed that she has already shot for three days for this big-budget project. The Roohi star said that the team welcomed her with open arms and called the shoot the ‘most liberating’ thing.
Janhvi said, “I have shot for three days. It was so comfortable. They are so loving. It’s everything that I have been dying to do for such a long time. I think my natural state or what comes easy to me, is like I don’t know, I guess being lively and looking a certain way. I think I kept myself away from doing the glamorous heroine thing for so long because I was like to need to prove to myself that I can act and I need to take up all the challenges. But when I went on set and when they gave me the brief and when I just had fun in front of the camera, it was just the most liberating thing. They welcomed me with open arms, even the people over there. I have said this before, it felt like homecoming.”
On being asked how she handled a new language (Telugu) for Devara, the actress shared, “The three days that I shot were actually all reaction shots. There were no dialogues.” Janhvi further revealed that she is yet to learn her dialogues since she had been shooting Uljah and went back to Mahi after that.
She said, “Koratala Sir said that 10 days before I start shoot, I will sit with him and do the dialogues, so there’s time. I think I will go in first week of September.”
Devara is Jr NTR’s first outing after SS Rajamouli’s RRR. The pan India film reportedly has a coastal setting as a backdrop.
