Isha Koppikar admitted that she felt Priyanka Chopra had a better role than her in Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don, and added that she too could have pulled off Roma.
Isha Koppikar, known for iconic songs like ‘Khallas’ (Company) and ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ (Don), reflected upon her experience of working in Shah Rukh Khan-Priyanka Chopra starrer Don. The actress essayed the role of Anita, Don’s moll in Farhan Akhtar’s 2006 action thriller, a remake of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 blockbuster film by the same name.
While speaking with Galatta India, Isha admitted that while she is grateful for Don, she felt her co-star Priyanka Chopra‘s role of Roma was more powerful than her. She added that she could have pulled off that character as well as she is ‘fantastic’ in action.
The actress said, “I feel Priyanka’s role was more powerful than mine. I would have given my left and right arm for it. I am a black belt in Taekwondo. I have been learning Taekwondo for 25 years now so I know I am fantastic at action and I can give any heroine a run for their money as far as action is concerned, even if they are half my age. I know I am good at it but what’s done is done.”

Further during the course of her interview, Isha also shared how the role of Anita in Don came her way. The ‘Kyaa Kool Hai Hum’ actress revealed that she had initially auditioned for Sonali Kulkarni’s role in Dil Chahta Hai, and was also offered the role. However, she couldn’t take it up as by then, she had already allotted her dates to another film.
Later, she finally got a chance to work with Farhan Akhtar in Don. She revealed that she bagged that role as Javed Akhtar and Shabana Azmi liked her performance in D.
Isha also admitted that she was hurt when Farhan Akhtar didn’t approach her for Don 2 which released in 2011.
The actress said, “I did reach out. I was told they have already cast for it. It’s okay. You win some, you lose some.” She later also added that she didn’t bother much as the Don sequel didn’t do as well as the first part.
Speaking about films, Isha’s last screen appearance was in Sivakarthikeyan-Rakul Preet Singh’s Ayalaan in 2024.
