Deepika Padukone believes the perception that Bollywood actresses come with a shelf life has changed now.

    Deepika Padukone

Deepika Padukone made a dreamy debut opposite Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in Farah Khan’s reincarnation drama in 2007. Over the years, the actress established herself as one of the most-sought after leading ladies in the Hindi film industry.

From representing India at many international events to being one of the first celebrities to talk about her struggle with depression, the Pathaan star is a trailblazer. This year. she was also one of the presenters at the 95th Academy Awards. And now, the diva has made it to the cover of the prestigious TIME magazine.

While speaking with the same publication, Deepika talked about how the perception that Bollywood actresses come with a shelf life that expires when they get married or have children, has changed.

The actress said, “I’ve never had that experience because he [Ranveer Singh] has always put me, my dreams, and my ambitions first.” She also admitted that she is her ‘most vulnerable self’ with him. After dating for several years, Ranveer and Deepika tied the knot at the picturesque location of Lake Como in Italy in 2018.

Further, Deepika also expressed her gratitude towards her near and dear ones and also her fans for supporting her over the years. She told the magazine, “The beautiful part is that millions of them will probably never meet me, but they’re still on the journey of life with me. They understand my body language, my expressions, my silences.”

In the same interview, Deepika also reacted to India’s Oscar wins this year and said that the country should look at it as the beginning of an opportunity.

The actress said that with the recognition of more diverse content, India is beginning to realize that its films are not just limited to Hindi movies. However, she also added, “I don’t think we should be happy with one Oscar for a song and one Oscar for a documentary. I hope we can look at this as the beginning of an opportunity.”

On the film front, Deepika has Hrithik Roshan starrer Fighter and Nag Ashwin’s upcoming film alongside Prabhas and Amitabh Bachchan.
