Atlee who recently helmed Jawan, shared that he has plans of casting Shah Rukh Khan and Thalapathy Vijay together in a film in the future.
After delivering back-to-back hits in Tamil cinema, Atlee recently made his directorial debut in Bollywood with Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan. The mass entertainer which presented the superstar in a completely new avatar, drew the audience to cinema halls in large numbers and smashed records at the box office.
Prior the film’s release, there were rumours about Thalapathy Vijay’s cameo in Jawan which turned out to be false. Atlee shares a great bond with Vijay and has worked with him in Theri (2016), Mersal (2017) and Bigil (2019).
In his latest interview with Pinkvilla, the ace director shared that he was clear on not having Vijay’s cameo in Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, as he has plans of mounting a big two-hero film with them in the future.
Atlee revealed, “There’s a reason why I didn’t ask a cameo from his (Vijay) end. I will write something for Shah Rukh sir and Vijay sir. Both of them have given best career arc in my life. Someday, I will crack a script for both of them and have them in a single movie.”
When the host told the filmmaker that this combo has the potential to do Rs 1500 crore at the box office, the latter quipped, “It should do more than that.”
Further, in the same interview, Atlee shared that he is in no hurry to start working on his next project and plans to take a four-month break and spend time with his child, Meer.
Explaining the reason behind the same, he said, “Jawan was an elephant’s pregnancy as I was into it for over 3 years and am yet to come out of it. I need a little time to come out of it and then think about my next. I have bigger responsibilities now to cater to a bigger audience. I want to take my films to a global level and that’s a promise I made to Shah Rukh sir. So, I have to grow and do something bigger than Jawan as well. That’s the wish of Khan sir too.”
So far, Jawan has collected Rs 735.02 Crore (gross) at the box office worldwide and continues to perform well.
