Ananya Panday, in an interview, said that she hasn’t sworn off commercial cinema, and emphasized on how she wants to grow and evolve as an actor.
After making her debut with Karan Johar’s campus romance Student Of The Year 2, Ananya Panday featured in films like Pati Patni Aur Woh, Khaali Peeli, and Liger before she switched gears with her next three ventures- Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, Call Me Bae and CTRL. Interestingly, all these three offerings are OTT projects and urban centric.
In a recent chat with Hindustan Times, Ananya said that she hasn’t sworn off commercial cinema when pointed out how her contemporary Janhvi Kapoor, after doing a string of intense films, recently starred in Jr NTR’s Devara Part-1.
The actress said, “People believe that doing commercial cinema is very easy, but it’s also an art to perform a certain way. Like Janhvi was amazing in her recent song. Her expressions were great, her energy was outstanding. It’s equally hard in a certain way.”

Speaking about how she hasn’t completely shut off the idea of doing commercial movies, she explained, “As an actor, you need to be able to do a little bit of everything. Right now, I’ve done so much of this urban, social media zone. Now, I also want to step out and reinvent myself. What have I not tried doing? An action film or an out-and-out horror film. And then maybe, I’ll feel like going back to singing and dancing because I’ve done too much intense stuff. I think it’s just your mind space at a certain point of time, and wanting to grow and evolve as an actor.”
Meanwhile, Ananya Panday starrer CTRL is slated to hit Netflix today (October 4). The film is helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane.
