Amrita Rao, in her recently launched book, ‘Couple Of Things’ opened up on how her vengeful now ex-manager made her lose out on Salman Khan’s blockbuster film, Wanted.
Salman Khan’s 2009 film, Wanted resurrected the superstar’s career after a string of box office flops and established him as an action star. The Prabhu Deva directorial was a remake of Mahesh Babu’s Telugu film, Pokiri. Ayesha Takia reprised Ileana D’Cruz’s role from the original in the Hindi remake.
But do you folks know that initially, the makers wanted to cast Amrita Rao as the female lead? Unfortunately, the actress missed out on this opportunity because of her manager who intentionally hid information about this film offer from her.
In her recently launched book, ‘Couple Of Things’, Amrita recalled this episode which happened just a few months after she parted ways with her manager.
The Main Hoon Na actress revealed, “A few months later, I was in Hyderabad shooting for a Telugu film with south superstar Mahesh Babu. One evening, back from the shoot in the lobby of my hotel Taj Banjara, I bumped into a production guy who worked closely with Mr. Boney Kapoor. ‘Oh, hi Amrita! How are you doing? If only our dates hadn’t clashed, you would be shooting for us with Salman Khan for Wanted,’ he said. I looked at him blankly. ‘When was 1 approached for Wanted?’ I asked, confused.”
She then quoted the person as saying, “Oh of course you were, I had called your manager and he said your dates were impossible to match.”
Amrita shared in her book that she was ‘completely shattered’ because she missed out on such a huge offer because of her manager who wanted to give her a ‘vengeful parting gift.’
“My heart broke into pieces and I was completely shattered. ‘I was never informed by him about such a huge offer, if only I knew, I’d have definitely worked out the dates for you,’ I said, reeling from the shock! Instead of taking our separation in his stride, my ex-manager had decided to give me this vengeful parting gift,” the Ishq Vishk actress recalled in her book.
Salman Khan’s Wanted revolves around a cop who disguises himself as a brutal assassin to achieve his ulterior motive. The film also features Prakash Raj, Mahesh Manjrekar, Vinod Khanna and Inder Kumar in pivotal roles.
