Do you know Ameesha Patel was just 14-15 year old when Rakesh Roshan told her that he wanted to offer her a film with Hrithik Roshan? After completing her studies, the actress went to make her acting debut with Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai.
Recently when Ameesha Patel graced The Kapil Sharma Show with her co-star Sunny Deol to promote their upcoming film Gadar 2, the actress made an interesting revelation about her debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai which released in 2000. Filmmaker-actor Rakesh Roshan launched his son alongside Ameesha in this romantic blockbuster.
According to a report in ETimes, during the episode, Ameesha was asked about the rumour about Rakesh Roshan casting her in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai after they met at a wedding. In response, the Humraaz actress shared that the filmmaker wanted to cast her opposite Hrithik when she was just a teenager. However, her family was against it owing to their political-business background and Ameesha too, was going abroad for her studies.
When the actress returned back, she was signed for Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai after she and Rakesh Roshan bumped into each other at a wedding.
Ameesha shared, “That is true but when he mentioned this I was just 14-15 year-old. He said that he wanted to cast me with Hrithik. My family was not ready and they denied it as we belonged to a political-business background and I was going to Boston to study.”

She further continued, “But then when I returned from Boston, we were again at a wedding and I was leaving, when Rakesh uncle came. At first, he couldn’t recognise me and he asked and my family said, ‘This is Ameesha, she just returned from Boston. In two days I had signed Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai‘s contract and in a week’s time I was shooting.”
Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai shot Hrithik Roshan to stardom and turned out to be a successful launch vehicle for Ameesha as well. The musical blockbuster revolves around a girl who meets her deceased boyfriend’s doppelganger and sets out to nab the people who killed him.
