Alia Bhatt said she was in her tigress mode when she signed Vasan Bala’s Jigra.
Alia Bhatt’s upcoming film, Jigra has been the talk of the town ever since its inception. Helmed by Vasan Bala who previously directed films like Peddlers, Mard Ko Dard Nahin Hota, and Monica, O My Darling, Jigra also features Vedang Raina who made his acting debut with Zoya Akhtar’s The Archies.
Jigra follows the story of a girl who is ready to go to extreme lengths to protect her brother. Recently in a promotional event, when Alia sat down with the film’s producer Karan Johar and her ‘RRR’ co-star Jr NTR for a candid chat, the actress spilled the beans about why she signed Jigra after her daughter Raha’s birth.
The actress shared, “It was the maternal instinct that drew me to Jigra,” thus pointing at how the film’s theme resonated with her.
Speaking about her state of mind when this film was offered to her, Alia said, “When I signed Jigra I think I was in my tigress mode. I was in my most protective- like, ‘No one come near her,’ mode. That was the energy.”
She continued, “That is why I always say destiny, luck, life has so much to play in things going a certain way. Forget the fate of Jigra, the fact that it came to me also was… wow what is this timing! That I am feeling this way and it came. It had all of those things laced over it.”
Further speaking about how motherhood has changed her as an actor and a person, Alia shared that she thinks she isn’t the same person anymore.
“Life has so much more meaning and I think like actors can get really self-obsessed if they are constantly thinking about themselves… Now when there is another being in your life suddenly it is like Alia who? It is Raha, Raha, Raha! Alia comes in and out! The focus is on her and nurturing and my mind always being there is something that will never change now,” the actress said in her conversation.
Alia Bhatt’s Jigra is slated to lock horns with Rajkummar Rao-Tripti Dimri starrer Vicky Video Ka Woh Wala Video at the box office on October 11.
