It’s been over 15 years since Aamir Khan‘s Phunsukh Wangdu taught us that excellence leads to success, and now, the wait for 3 Idiots 2 is officially nearing its end. In a recent interview, the Bollywood superstar revealed that director Rajkumar Hirani and writer Abhijat Joshi are actively working on the sequel.
Aamir told Amar Ujala the sequel will not be a reboot, but a direct continuation of the lives of Rancho, Farhan, and Raju.

The sequel will show the characters from 3 Idiots ten years later. Aamir is happy about playing Phunsukh Wangdu again. “It’s a beautiful story conceived by Raju and Abhijat. I’m looking forward to it,” he added.
Released in 2009, 3 Idiots became one of the biggest blockbusters in Indian cinema, winning hearts with its perfect mix of comedy, emotion, and a powerful social message. The story follows Farhan (R. Madhavan) and Raju (Sharman Joshi) as they set out to find their long‑lost college friend Rancho (Aamir Khan), the free‑spirited genius who dared to challenge India’s rigid education system and inspired them to see life differently.
3 Idiots also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Omi Vaidya and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
Now, with Aamir confirming the sequel, audiences are waiting eagerly to see Rancho, Raju, and Farhan return on the big screen. The actor was last seen in Advait Chandan’s Laal Singh Chaddha (2002).
