Like the title of the first episode says, ‘Hell Hath No Fury Like A Man Wronged’, Gashmeer Mahajani as Abhimanyu Nayak introduces you to the cards (characters) in this deck (show) as he gears up to extract his revenge.
His introductory scene- a close-up shot to portray his dread, the trembling of the water in the glass symbolizing his inner turmoil until he holds it steady and takes a sip is impressive. What I liked the most about this introductory episode is the use of the mirror shots and reflections for Abhimanyu at different points for different emotional stages; be it for conveying his double identity, his moment of deceit, or his angst.
There is a sense of mystery lingering around Surbhi Jyoti‘s Tara right from the first time when we meet her in the elevator. As time passes by, she makes effective use of her eyes to tell us that ‘there’s more to her appearance’.
Zayn Ibad Khan as Shiva, too holds your attention in this show which is an official adaptation of the popular Turkish crime series Ezel (loosely based on the novel, The Count Of Monte Cristo).
As of now, there’s a lot to discover in the show and decide whether this ‘gamble’ is worth it.
