Sunny Deol got emotional in a recent interview as he narrated a deleted scene from his 1997 blockbuster film Border.

JP Dutta’s 1997 epic war film Border is one of the most iconic patriotic films made in Hindi cinema. With a star cast that boosts names like Sunny Deol, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff and Akshaye Khanna, amongst others, the movie, based on 1971 Indo-Pakistan War, is an adaptation of true events from the Battle of Longewala.

In a recent interview with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Sunny Deol got nostalgic about Border and said that he didn’t realise the impact that film had on the public until he started hearing stories of young men in the armed forces enlisting after watching it.

Speaking about how men and women in the armed forces consider him as one of their own now, Sunny said that he is very proud of Border.

On being asked to pick his favourite scene from the JP Dutta directorial, the actor narrated a deleted sequence which failed to make it to the final cut and even got teared up while talking about it.

Sunny shared, “There was a scene that didn’t make it to the final cut. It was a lovely scene. JP Dutta’s father had written it. It’s right at the end of the film, and I’m at the small temple. I look back and see that there’s firelight coming from the bunker that had been destroyed. I go over, and I see all of my fallen soldiers, sitting around the fire together. I talk to them, reassure them that I’ll take care of their families, I’ll fix the broken roof of their home, I’ll talk to their mothers. To me, it’s like they are there. I tell them that they are in heaven now, and there’s no fighting in heaven…”

The actor further added that this scene was edited out for length reasons.

In the same interview, the Bollywood star also confirmed that he is in talks for Border 2 and shared that he will do it only if he feels it has some ‘substance.’

Currently, Sunny is riding high on the success of Anil Sharma’s Gadar 2 which is heading towards Rs 500 Crore Club.
