    Cuppa News-Vada Chennai 2

Director Vetrimaaran and Dhanush have teamed up on several successful films in the past. One of them is the critically acclaimed Vada Chennai which released in 2018. Since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for this director-duo to come up with its sequel.

Meanwhile, recently, there were some rumours circulating on the internet about Vada Chennai 2 getting shelved.  At the audio and trailer launch of the upcoming Tamil film, Rudhran, Vetrimaaran finally reacted to these reports.

The filmmaker clarified, “Vada Chennai 2 will happen after the release of Viduthalai: Part 2 and Suriya’s Vaadivasal. The project is not dropped. It’ll definitely happen.”

Previously at an event of Viduthalai: Part 1, Vijay Sethupathi had shared that he has heard the story of Vada Chennai 2 and that it sounds really good. For the unversed, the Master actor was offered the role of Ranjan in Vada Chennai. However, he couldn’t take up the film owing to date issues. That part was later played by Ameer.

Set in North Chennai, Vada Chennai revolves around a local carrom player Anbu (Dhanush) who gets sucked into the world of gangsters. The action crime film also features Ameer, Radha Ravi, Subramaniam Shiva, Samuthirakani, Aishwarya Rajesh and Andrea Jeremiah in pivotal roles.

Upon its release, the Dhanush starrer had received a lot of accolades and appreciation from every nook and corner. Post Vada Chennai, Vetrimaaran and Dhanush teamed up for Asuran who bagged two National Awards.
