Ridhi Dogra recalled an incident from her television days where she refused to do a scene where her character had to throw acid on a woman.
Ridhi Dogra has been a part of many popular television shows ever since she made her acting debut in 2007. Known for her impressive acting chops, the actress has always steered clear of typical saas-bahu soaps.
Recently, in a chat with a publication, Ridhi said that when she was doing TV shows, she made sure that didn’t do anything on-screen that sent out a wrong message to the audience. The actress narrated an anecdote where she put her foot down and refused to shoot a ‘violent’ sequence where her character was supposed to throw acid on a woman.
The ‘Asur’ actress told Hauterfly, “There was a show in which I was playing a negative character. I refused 50 things that they wanted me to do. They told me that my character would throw acid on the heroine. I had a big fight with the whole channel. I said, ‘I won’t shoot it. This thing will be aired at the primetime and why would you want to put the idea in the head of a guy who is irritated with a girl?’”
Ridhi said that she was labelled as a ‘diva’ for taking a strong stand and her refusal to do that scene was presumed to be merely an excuse to not look bad on the screen.
“But then it was the same conversation, ‘Oh, she doesn’t want to look bad, she wants to be a heroine.’ I said I can do 50 things to look bad, but I won’t do this and won’t even let you did this,” she recalled.
On the work front, Ridhi Dogra is currently garnering praise for her role of Kaveri Amma in Shah Rukh Khan’s recent blockbuster Jawan. Her next outing is Salman Khan-Katrina Kaif starrer Tiger 3.
