Vivek Oberoi made everyone sit up and take notice with his stellar performance as Chandu Nagre in Ram Gopal Varma’s crime drama, Company in 2002. With films like Saathiya, Masti, Shootout At Lokhandwala, Omkara, Kurbaan, amongst others, the actor has an impressive body of work to his credit.

You guys would be surprised to know that besides his acting career, Vivek has also founded many companies, invested in around 30 films and has ventures in real estate. In a recent interview with Entertainment Live, the ‘Kaal’ actor shared how his father and actor Suresh Oberoi instilled a business mindset in him when he was very young.

He recalled a particular anecdote when he was 10 years old, where before one of their family vacations, his father asked him to sell bottles of perfume in order to teach him the concept of accounts, sales and business.

Vivek shared, “I was about 10 years old when my father approached me, saying we’d go on a holiday in a month, but before that, he would teach me something over the first four weeks. He asked me to keep a diary and track the inventory of perfumes he had purchased for me. He told me that whatever I managed to sell beyond the marked price would be mine.”

He continued, “I went door to door on my bicycle carrying my school bag filled with inventory and merchandise. I made mistakes but learnt a lot. By the time I was 15, I started developing my own ideas and ventured into the stock market. I began pursuing small entrepreneurial companies.

He further revealed that he founded a tech company at the age of 19, and sold it at a profit at 22, and added that’s when he realised that it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC and help both investors and myself earn money.”

Speaking about how his entrepreneurial journey supported him when he faced challenges in his film career, Vivek said, “I felt capable and confident that I could do something on my own. That was the point when my journey restarted.” He further emphasized that if one gives it all to what they do, the result will mostly be good, be it in films, business, philanthropy or love.

On the work front, Vivek Oberoi was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s action series, Indian Police Force.
