Vijay Deverakonda talked about the box office failures in his career and emphasized that he continues to stand by them.

Vijay Deverakonda is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film Kushi in which he is paired opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu. The actor rose to prominence with his portrayal of an alcoholic doctor in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s 2017 Telugu hit Arjun Reddy. However, Vijay’s last few releases haven’t had a great luck at the box office.

Recently, in an interview with Cinema Express, Vijay reflected upon his box office failures like Liger, NOTA and Dear Comrade and emphasized that he continues to stand by them irrespective of their fate.

According to the Geeta Govindam actor, the script of all these movies were ‘terrific’, however they fell short of expectations when it came to execution.

Vijay said, “I know people won’t accept this statement, but honestly, I believe every script that I’ve chosen was terrific. It was the execution that didn’t go as planned. For instance, an inside joke between friends wouldn’t translate well to others if the delivery and timing weren’t on point. That’s exactly what happened with films like Liger, NOTA and even Dear Comrade.”

He continued, “I might have done things differently, for sure, including different strategies for promotions. Every story I picked could have been huge, but it just didn’t happen.”

Vijay admitted that there’s a sense of emotional pressure on him with every film that he does because those who believes in his cinema wants him to succeed and added that there’s pressure of business too. The actor said that since he owns a theatre, he is aware how the success or failure of films affects the ecosystem.

Coming back to Vijay’s upcoming film Kushi, the romantic comedy marks his reunion with his Geeta Govindam director Shiva Nirvana. The film is slated to hit the big screens on September 1.
