Triptii Dimri shared her experience of working with Vicky Kaushal and Rajkummar Rao in a recent interview.
Triptii Dimri was lauded for her performances in films like Laila Majnu, Bulbbul and Qala. But it was her supporting role in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal (2023) which skyrocketed her popularity. She followed this with Bad Newz and her upcoming film, Vicky Video Ka Woh Wala Video.
In a recent interview with Hollywood Reporter India, when Triptii was asked if she felt the whiplash for taking up popularist entertainers like Bad Newz and Vicky Video Ka Woh Wala Video, the actress shared that she had actually signed both these movies before the release of Animal.
Admitting her nervousness about dabbling with mainstream cinema, Triptii said, “I don’t want to ever get to a point where I don’t like acting. I want to go to a set and enjoy the process. Drama is something I’ve really enjoyed doing, but then comedy happened, and every day on set, I was like, ‘I don’t know acting, I’m back to square one’.”
The actress said that she was left in awe after watching her co-stars like Vicky Kaushal and Rajkummar Rao deliver their lines beautifully. She spoke about how some films require an actor to improvise on set, especially in comedy, where one needs to be constantly alert. On the other hand, when it comes to drama, you get time to settle down in your role, which she initially used to find very challenging, but have now found her peace there.
Speaking about her experience of working with Vicky Kaushal on Bad Newz, she shared, “Earlier, with Vicky, I was so nervous. For three days, I was (frozen). We shot the song first. I didn’t even interact with Vicky properly because I was so nervous looking at him perform. It took me 5-10 days to get used to the crew, the scale of the film, the director.”
The actress told the publication that she faced a similar situation when she worked on Rajkummar Rao starrer Vicky Video Ka Woh Wala Video, and was all praise for her co-star.
