Tamannaah revealed the reason why she broke her ‘no-kissing policy’ for Netflix’s upcoming anthology Lust Stories 2 in which she is sharing screen space with her actor-beau Vijay Varma.
Ever since Tamannaah made her acting debut, the actress has always refrained from smooching or doing intimate scenes with her co-stars on screen. However, for the first time in her 18-year-career, the Baahubali actress has broken her ‘no-kissing rule’ for Netflix’s much anticipated anthology Lust Stories 2 which has her sharing screen space with her actor-beau Vijay Varma for the first time.
In an interview with Film Companion, Tamannaah finally opened up on why she took this decision. The actress said that she really wanted to work with Sujoy Ghosh and added that she is very happy that he thought of her for this role especially since she has done very little intimacy in her career.
Tamannaah said, “I was that audience that would get awkward and I was that audience who was like ‘main ye kabhi nahi karungi, main kabhi nahi kiss karungi on screen (I will never do this, I will never kiss onscreen).’ I was that person, for me it was an evolution to get out of that framework.”
The actress clarified that she broke her ‘no-kissing policy’ for Lust Stories purely for creative endeavor and not to gain popularity.
“India is vast and there are so many parts of India that still needs to evolve. There is a lot of evolution that has happened already, thanks to even internet and social media, everyone has information on their fingertips but I do feel like- because everyone’s consuming so much content-I felt like as an actor, I don’t want this to be something that is holding me back. And this was purely a creative endeavor. After 18 years, I am not trying to be famous, you know. Like that’s not my endeavor or driving force,” Tamannaah told the interviewer.
The actress further added that she wants people to see her in versatile roles.
Talking about Lust Stories 2, besides Tamannaah and Vijay Varma, the anthology also features Kajol, Mrunal Thakur, Neena Gupta, Tillotama Shome, Amruta Subhash, Angad Bedi and Kumud Mishra.
