Sumbul Touqeer says she isn’t interested in doing TV soaps after Imlie as of now since she doesn’t want to get stuck with repetitive shows.
After featuring in supportive roles in TV shows like Chandragupta Maurya and Ishaaron Ishaaron Mein, Sumbul Touqeer became a household name with her titular role in Star Plus’ popular daily, Imlie in which she was paired opposite Gashmeer Mahajani and later, Fahmaan Khan.
Post quitting the show, Sumbul’s fanbase expanded further when she participated in the popular reality show, Bigg Boss 16 in which she became the youngest participant to spend more than 100 days in the Bigg Boss house. More recently, she was seen as a celebrity guest in several episodes of Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull on Colors TV.
Ever since Sumbul came out of the Bigg Boss house, fans have been eagerly waiting to know what’s next in the pipeline for her in the fiction space. However, the actress in her latest interview with a leading daily, revealed that she isn’t keen on doing daily soaps after Imlie as of now.
Elaborating on the reason behind the same, “I have a little doubt about doing daily soap. I had got many shows in the line but when it comes to daily soaps it becomes difficult to take up any other shows as you have to focus on the show for 1 to 2 years almost. For example, during the Imlie show, but I of course I am grateful to that TV show. Even during that, I did not get to sign up for any other TV show. I don’t want to get stuck in between, like I am doing Entertainment Ki Raat Housefull which is just for a day and then I have got the rest of the week in which I can explore something new. So I just don’t want to get stuck is my ultimate goal.”
Further talking about life post Imlie, Sumbul told the publication that earlier, people would address her as Imlie when she was doing the show but now, they call her by her name. Recalling an anecdote from her recent trip to a mela (fair), the actress said that she thought that nobody would recognize her as they would be busy in their own world.
“I sat in a giant wheel and people caught hold of me and that’s when I realised that everybody knows me. I ran from there to another ride to get rid of the crowd but people were still catching me,” Sumbul shared with the publication.
