Late choreographer Saroj Khan worked with some of the most popular leading stars and gave us many iconic songs to cherish forever. Recently, Sonali Bendre got nostalgic on a reality show and recalled her experience of working with Bollywood’s ‘Masterji’.
According to a report in ANI, the Sarfarosh actress said although she has never really played garba, her favourire garba song is ‘Chand Aaya Hai’ from her 1999 film Dil Hi Dil Mein in which she was paired opposite Kunal Singh.
Talking about learning dance moves from the ace choreographer for this track, Sonali shared, “It was this song in which I performed this dance style for the first time. Saroj ji was choreographing it and it was my first time working with her as well. I was scared that she would throw her dandiya sticks at me when I do something wrong; I still remember that.”
She further added, “The song was very beautifully done and when I saw Saroj ji, I knew that I was going to face her wrath if I made any mistakes. Even though she was strict, she was an amazing teacher! I love her.” Sonali is currently one of the judges on India’s Best Dancer alongside Terence Lewis and Geeta Kapur.
Dil Hi Dil Mein is also remembered for the popular ‘Ae Naznee Suno Na’ song which is sung by Abhijeet and has music by AR Rahman. Helmed by Kathir, the romantic drama revolves around two college kids, Raja and Roja who fall for each other on the internet. However, their love story faces several obstacles as Roja is already engaged and Raja cannot bear to disrespect her father, to whom he owes his livelihood.
Dil Hi Dil Mein is the Hindi dubbed version of the Tamil film Kadhir Dhinam.
