Sidharth Malhotra, in a recent masterclass session with an entertainment portal, opened up on his deliberate calm approach to his career.

Sidharth Malhotra got his first big break in the Hindi film industry with Karan Johar’s campus romance Student Of The Year alongside Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt in 2012. Over the years, the actor went on to establish himself as a popular actor with acclaimed films like Kapoor & Sons, Shershaah, to name a few.

In an industry known for its cutthroat competition, Sidharth Malhotra is amongst those who has relatively maintained a low profile.

Ahead of the release of his upcoming web series, Indian Police Force, the ‘Shershaah’ actor in a masterclass session with Pinkvilla, opened up on how he remains composed calm, confident, and secure in the competitive entertainment industry.

Sidharth shared, “It’s been almost 11 years now, so after the first few years, you realize that eventually, it’s what you bring on screen that matters. The before chatter is not really relevant because you can build up as much as you want. You could be vocal, showcasing ‘I’ve got this, this, and this together,’ ‘this is what I can do.’ I believe in demonstrating what one can do, and there is a sense of confidence and security in knowing that you bring something valuable to the table, something that lends itself to the larger screen and a particular tonality of action.”

Elaborating on it, he attributed his mindset to learnings from his upbringing and his early years in the industry. According to him, it’s important to stay focused on one’s work and not get distracted by external factors. He also said that the key lies in delivering a good performance and being in sync with directors.

Sidharth said that he believes that it’s effective to come up with the content and receive genuine responses rather than building up a certain PR image or an aura beforehand. He further added, “To me, a closed fist is stronger.”

In the same session, when the ‘Mission Majnu’ actor was made aware of the fact that his fans miss him in grey characters like that in Ek Villain, he replied, “Ek Villain also had, at core, a good motivation even though it was a very aggressive character doing wrong things in his past, but his present journey was because of a love story; because of an emotional reason. So, ya, absolutely (I would like to play characters with grey shades). That was my third film so it was more challenging and daunting then, to portray a more silent character. At present, not that I am averse to it, but it’s something that I am also possibly looking (to do); So, its up to the writers and directors; Something interesting comes up, of course. Why not!”

Coming back to Indian Police Force, the series also features Vivek Oberoi and Shilpa Shetty.
