Sharvari, in a new interview, shared why her successful audition for Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama didn’t materialise into a role.

Remember Luv Ranjan’s 2011 rom-com, Pyaar Ka Punchnama? Starring Kartik Aaryan, Divyendu Sharma, Raayo S. Bakhirta, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Sonnalli Seygal and Ishita Raj Sharma, the film, upon its release, became immensely popular with the young crowd for Kartik’s viral monologue. But do you guys know that Sharvari had auditioned for this film as well?

The ‘Munjya’ actress made this revelation while reflecting upon her journey in the industry in her latest chat with Cosmopolitan India.

Sharvari revealed that she received her first audition call in 2014 after her winning moment from a talent hunt got published across newspaper editions.

“When I tried my hand at it, I immediately fell in love. It was a dream away from the life I had—my family doesn’t come from films—but I knew immediately that I was in love with the process…being in front of the camera, preparing my lines at home… It was a dream of a cinema lover,” she told the publication.

She then went on to share how she had even auditioned for Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama. However, despite cracking the audition, she failed to bag the film.

Elaborating on it, Sharvari said, “At that point, it was an adult film and while Luv (Ranjan) sir really liked my audition, I was only 17 and he said it wasn’t the film for me.”

The actress shared that when her role didn’t materialize, she requested Ranjan to let her be the Assistant Director (AD) on set. Sharvari recalled, “He obliged and gave me my first job, and that is really how it began. I became a director’s assistant first, got upgraded to being a clap AD on Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), went on to be an intern and AD on Bajirao (Mastani), an AD again at Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018).”

The ‘Vedaa’ star said that while doing this job, she also auditioned for films, advertisements, web series, and  picking up everything she could about the craft from the workshops in and around Mumbai.

Finally five years later, she got her first break- Kabir Khan’s he Forgotten Army-Azaadi Ke Liye, followed by her big screen debut with Saif Ali Khan-Rani Mukerji starrer Bunty Aur Babli 2. This year, the actress has been on a roll with three back to back releases- Munjya, Maharaj and Vedaa. Her next is YRF’s female spy film, Alpha co-starring Alia Bhatt.
