Jawan editor Ruben was all praise for Shah Rukh Khan at the film’s grand pre-release event in Chennai.
After the massive success of Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, now all eyes are towards the superstar’s second release this year- Atlee’s Jawan. Right from the time this action entertainer was announced, there has been a huge buzz around it. When the makers dropped King Khan’s first look from Jawan, fans just couldn’t contain their excitement. The prevue and the songs from the film have also caught their attention.
With just few days remaining for Jawan to hit the theatrical screens, the makers recently hosted a grand pre-release event for the film in Chennai which was attended by the cast and the crew of the film. Nayanthara couldn’t make it to the event because of Onam.
At the function, the team of Jawan shared some interesting anecdotes from behind the scenes. The film’s editor Ruben spoke about SRK’s generosity and recalled how the superstar offered to sacrifice his own scenes to retain the performances of his co-stars.
He shared, “I thank Shah Rukh Khan for trusting us. Not just one, but a whole bus of Tamilians landed in the North. It needs some guts to do that. Also, as a human, he is a great. He is a selfless actor. Whenever I trimmed a scene, he would ask me to cut out his portions to retain the performances of other actors. He would tell me, ‘Other actors’ hard work shouldn’t go in vain.”
Ruben also talked about Vijay Sethupathi’s character in Jawan and said that it gave him ‘sleepless nights.’
“I love Vijay Sethupathi. Most importantly the films where he is the villain. In Jawan, he has played a character which is death personified. His role gave me sleepless nights,” the editor told the audience.
He also expressed his gratitude towards director Atlee and added, “I am not good in Hindi and most of the technicians also don’t. But when I went there to shoot in some unknown locations, everyone around me was Tamil on the sets. We should thank Atlee for making it feel like home.”
Jawan features Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra and Sunil Grover in pivotal roles. The big-budget film is slated to release on September 7, 2023,
