Santhy Balachandran of Tharangam and Jallikattu fame talked about her Bollywood plans in a recent interview.
Santhy Balachandran, who has carved out her own space in the Malayalam film industry with movies like Tharangam, Jallikattu and Chathuram, recently made her debut in Bollywood with Manoj Bajpayee-starrer Disney+ Hotstar film, Gulmohar. The actress essayed the role of Reshma Saeed in the acclaimed film.
In an interview with ETimes, Santhy opened up on her plans of taking more offers in the Hindi film industry.
“I would love to explore Bollywood If I can get more opportunities and interesting characters. Gulmohar is definitely a great introduction for me to a different industry and my character Reshma Saeed has been surely registered,” the actress told the leading daily.
On being asked if she is looking forward to work with any specific Bollywood actor, Santhy added, “No, you can’t predict what’s coming your way. As an actor, you are always at the mercy of someone who sees a specific character in you.”
Speaking about how Gulmohar came her way, she revealed, “Dilip Shankar cast me for the film Gulmohar and after that, we had a few readings and meetings over zoom as it was the time of the pandemic. It was a wonderful experience to work with different generations of actors in Gulmohar that comprises established actors to upcoming actors.”
Santhy made her acting debut with Tovino Thomas-starrer fantasy black comedy, Tharangam in 2017 for which she won rave reviews from the critics. She also packed a punch in Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Jallikattu.
