Ram Gopal Varma dismissed comparisons between legendary star Sridevi and her actress-daughter Janhvi Kapoor in a recent interview.
During the promotions of Devara: Part 1, Janhvi Kapoor‘s co-star Jr NTR in one of his interviews, shared how there was a frame during the photoshoot for the film where they thought she was a spitting image of her legendary mother and actress Sridevi. However, Ram Gopal Varma doesn’t agree to this!
Recently in an interview on his channel, the filmmaker dismissed these comparisons, and attributed this belief to the fact that there is a Sridevi hangover.
He said that his admiration for the Mr India star with whom he collaborated on Kshana Kshanam and Govindha Govindha, grew over the years because of her performance and talent.
“Be it Padaharella Vayasu or Vasanta Kokila, she delivered a range of performances. In fact, seeing her perform, I forgot that I was a filmmaker, and started seeing her as an audience. That is the range. I haven’t seen Janhvi Kapoor in Sridevi yet, ” the Kaun director said in his interview.
On being asked about a potential collaboration with the late actress’ daughter Janhvi, Ram Gopal Varma refused to mince his words and said, “I liked the mother right, not the daughter.” Further emphasizing on how his statement doesn’t carry any malicious intent, he continued, “Honestly throughout my career, there have been a lot of actors and big stars with whom I haven’t developed a connection. So yeah, I have no intention of doing a film with Janhvi.”
On the work front, Ram Gopal Varma is all set to reunite with his Satya actor Manoj Bajpayee for a film. Meanwhile, Janhvi Kapoor has two films in the pipeline- Varun Dhawan starrer Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari and Param Sundari alongside Sidharth Malhotra.
