Saif Ali Khan is joining the Race franchise again for the fourth installment of the series.
Here’s some good news for all Saif Ali Khan fans! The actor is all set to return as the lead in Race 4. Producer Ramesh Taurani confirmed this development in his latest interaction with a news agency.
While expressing his excitement over Saif’s return to the franchise, Taurani also revealed that Race 4 is slated to hit the shooting floors in 2025.
The producer told PTI, “Saif will be back in the Race franchise, and we are excited to have him on board. He did a great job in the first two films. The film will boast an ensemble cast, and we are finalizing the script and cast. We haven’t finalised the director either. We will announce the film officially before we go on floors, most likely next year.”
Saif Ali Khan was a part of Race (2008) and Race 2 (2013). While Saif Ali Khan and Akshaye Khanna played brothers in the first film, the second installment in the franchise featured John Abraham as the main antagonist. Both the films were box office blockbusters.
Race 3 had an altogether new cast, and was spearheaded by Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. The action thriller had received negative reviews, and had failed to impress cinegoers.
Ramesh Taurani also addressed the negative reviews of Race 3, and said, “The third part did better business than the previous two installments. We had expected the film to earn between Rs 200 to 250 crore, but it grossed over Rs 180 crore, which is not insignificant. For all of us, it was a profitable film.”
He added, “The only difference is that the first two parts received good reviews from critics, while the third one didn’t garner a good response. However, we are leaving no stone unturned for the fourth part.”
Coming back to Saif Ali Khan, the actor recently made his Telugu debut with Jr NTR-Janhvi Kapoor starrer Devara Part 1.
