Priyanka Chopra recalled people’s reaction when she signed Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion.
After winning the Miss World 2000 pageant, Priyanka Chopra made her acting debut with Thalapathy Vijay starrer Thamizhan in 2002. She stepped into the Hindi film industry with Sunny Deol-Preity Zinta’s spy thriller, The Hero: Love Story Of A Spy and went on to establish herself as one of the most popular actresses in Bollywood.

In a recent interview with popular YouTuber and actress Prajakta Kohli, PeeCee recalled how people had discouraged her from taking up this film. She said that she didn’t have people waiting to work with her, and that she had to take the bull by the horns herself.
The actress said, “It took a lot of fighting, and saying that, ‘Theek hai, main chhoti film karungi agar mere balboote pe hoga, par ache se karungi (I’ll do a small film, but I’ll do it well).’ Like Fashion.”
She continued, “When I did Fashion, people told me that female actors only do solo films like this at the end of their careers, when they want to win awards and because no male hero wants to work with them). I was just three-four years into movies when I did Fashion, and everyone told me that I wouldn’t get another job if this film fails. I didn’t know any better.”
Fashion helmed by Madhur Bhandarkar, features Priyanka Chopra, Kangana Ranaut and Mugdha Godse in leading roles. The film revolves around a small-time girl who after becoming a famous supermodel, realises that there’s a prize for her new glamorous life. Upon its release, the film received rave reviews and several awards.
Currently, Priyanka is busy with the promotions of her upcoming web series, Russo Brothers’ Citadel.
