Priyanka Chopra, in a new interview, opened up on how she once considered to quit the film industry because she was fed up of being rejected.
Priyanka Chopra who made her acting debut with Thalapathy Vijay starrer Thamizhan in 2002, went on to establish herself as one of the popular actresses in Indian cinema. In the last couple of years, she has made her mark on the international scale as well with global projects and breath-taking red carpet appearances. At the same time, PeeCee is also someone who has never shied away from talking about her struggles and ‘not-so-pleasant’ experiences.
After sending ripples in the industry with her shocking revelations about the dirty politics in Bollywood, Priyanka Chopra has now spoken about the fickle nature of fame and how she is aware about the inconsistency of her profession.
The Fashion actress who graced the cover of the popular magazine Grazia UK, said that she doesn’t take her success for granted. Priyanka said, “My job is extremely inconsistent. I could get cancelled tomorrow; people could decide I’m not flavour of the month. I have never been the kind of person who thinks I have made it.”
Recalling how she was initially tired of rejection when she stepped into Hollywood, she continued, “There were so many times I wanted to quit. I was tired of rejection. I felt dismissed and patronised on set, like people didn’t believe I could do my job even when Bollywood is as huge as it is.”
Speaking about finally breaking it in the west, Priyanka added, “Perseverance was my only way out. Professionally, I know that I’m in an amazing place, after 23 years I’m getting the roles I always wanted. Personally, there is nowhere else I want to be but home.”
Workwise, Priyanka Chopra’s latest web series Citadel is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. She also recently signed Heads Of State alongside Idris Alba and John Cena.
