Paresh Rawal Says He Grew Overconfident During Phir Hera Pheri; ‘I Realized My Mistake When I Was Dubbing For The Film’

Paresh Rawal, in a recent interview, revealed that he felt he was being overconfident while filming Phir Hera Pheri which released in 2006.

Paresh Rawal’s portrayal of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte aka Babu bhaiyya in Hera Pheri franchise has earned a cult status over the years. From memes to funny videos, the character is a favourite with netizens. While both the movies (Hera Pheri and Phir Hera Pheri) continues to receive immense love even years after their release, Paresh Rawal feels that he was being overconfident while shooting for Phir Hera Pheri.

In a chat with News18, the OMG actor said that there was a sense of overconfidence which shouldn’t have happened during Phir Hera Pheri. However, Rawal was all praise for his co-star Suniel Shetty and said, “Suniel Shetty Anna was earnest and honest and carried the legacy of Shyam in an amazing way. Characters and premise like Hera Pheri come our way very rarely.”

“We should work around it very diligently and treat it with a lot of nazaqat. We shouldn’t make it impure. I realized my mistake when I was dubbing for Phir Hera Pheri. Mujhe samajh mein aaya ke maine paap kar diya hai, bahot hi ganda paap kar diya hai. Par maahol hi aisa tha (I didn’t realize that I had committed a grave mistake. But the situation was such). Having said that, we shouldn’t have become so over-confident,” Paresh told the publication.

Meanwhile, after years of speculations, Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal are now finally all set to reunite for Hera Pheri 3. A few months ago, the cast also shot for an announcement promo for this film. Reports of Farhad Samji helming this project had received mixed reactions on social media.

Talking about Hera Pheri 3, Paresh had previously revealed that the lovable trio (Raju, Shyam and Babu bhaiyya)  will go global this time, as they travel to Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Los Angeles, California. The comic caper is bankrolled by Firoz Nadiadwala.

On the film front, Paresh Rawal is currently awaiting the release of his upcoming film, Ayushmann Khurrana-Ananya Panday starrer Dream Girl 2.
