Nia Sharma admitted that the television industry is paying the price for the audience’s growing love for OTT platforms.
Nia Sharma, in a recent interview, agreed that the small screen is facing the brunt with the boom in the digital phase. Gone are the days where TV shows would bring in double-digit TRPs (television rating points) as the audience would remain hooked to their favourite shows.
The actress told IANS, “Of course, I agree, the TRPs are the major factor determining the fate of television today and literally no show is kind of working. TRPs have gone down majorly with leaps and bounds and it is not a good sign for television. I am sure the makers and producers are trying their best to put their best foot forward to bring the audience’s love back.”
Meanwhile, after a hiatus of four years, Nia recently made her comeback in the fiction genre with Colors’ show, Suhagan Chudail where the actress essays the role of a witch named Nishigandha.
On being asked what attracted her to the supernatural genre, the actress replied, “It’s not for me to choose my work. It just so happened that after four years, I stumbled upon a fantasy thriller show again. It was not a conscious choice that I immediately said yes to a show like this but going forward and knowing the character more, I realized that this was a tailor-made role for me.”
