Nargis Fakhri, in a new interview, opened up on making her OTT debut with Dheeraj Dhoopar-Divya Agarwal starrer Tatlubaaz.
Nargis Fakhri made her Bollywood debut with Imtiaz Ali’s 2011 film Rockstar alongside Ranbir Kapoor and went on to feature in films like Madras Cafe, Main Tera Hero, Azhar to name a few. Her last Bollywood release was Anupam Kher starrer Shiv Shastri Balboa. Now, Nargis is all set to set her first step in the OTT space with Vibhu Kashyap’s upcoming web series Tatlubaaz co-starring TV heartthrob Dheeraj Dhoopar and Divya Agarwal.
Recently, the actress in an interview with Hindustan Times, opened up what excites her more about this new journey.
Nargis told the publication, “Knowing that the OTT space has exploded with so much content, I was always very much curious about being a part of it. OTT content pushes boundaries and allows actors to explore their limits. Any actor including me would want to do that. Also there are so many different kinds of characters out there which is exciting. So you have more variety and I believe that’s the spice of acting.”
On being asked if this excitement is the result of cinema holding her back for years from showing her true potential as an actress, she shared that she doesn’t think that it held her back.
“I just think that I fit certain characters better. So I got cast for those characters. They call it pigeonholing sometimes. When you see a character the actor has played, and it fits them well, they keep getting those same roles over and over. But I don’t think it’s on purpose. It’s natural that humans enjoy seeing an actor play a certain role and so they keep getting those roles,” the actress added.
Nargis clarified that she wasn’t annoyed about doing repetitive roles because she enjoyed every film that she worked on. At the same time, the Rockstar actress also added that she will get more opportunities to explore on OTT platform as there’s more content and a variety of characters to play there.
While Nargis is open to experimenting with different ideas on OTT, she also made it clear that she would never be naked for a project as she has a problem with nudity. Further, the actress said that she wouldn’t mind playing a homosexual or a woman married to another woman because she believes that playing any character is a part of her job.
Nargis also addressed the concerns raised by some people about how it’s uncomfortable to watch certain OTT content with families and said, “The audience has a choice to watch it or not. They can choose to switch it off or watch something else. That’s the beauty of OTT platform. There are so many options out there.”
Nargis’ OTT debut Tatlubaaz recently went on floors.
