Actor Naga Chaitanya, in a recent interview, said that he would love to do a mass hero film if there’s a proper story backing it.
Naga Chaitanya is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming film, Venkat Prabhu’s Tamil-Telugu bilingual, Custody which also features Arvind Swamy and Kriti Shetty in pivotal roles. In his career spanning 14 years, the Telugu star has dabbled with different genres ranging from romance to thrillers but we are yet to see him as a full-blown mass hero on the big screen.
In his latest interview with Film Companion, Chay as the fans lovingly call him, was asked if he is all game to venture into this zone. In response, the Majili actor said that he would love to do a mass hero film if it has a proper story backing it.
Chay told the entertainment portal, “If there’s a story behind it, I would do it. I love watching such cinema. I love going to the theatre, first day first show watching any big stars’ films and watching the fans go crazy. I love that euphoria. But for me, to do it, I need a proper story backing it. I just can’t do it for the sake of doing it. I don’t think the audience also will buy that anymore. They will buy it with a certain section of stars because they love watching them like that. But with us being the next generation, they expect something else from us. We just can’t do a high-speed shot without any story backing it. It will fall flat.”
In the same interview, the actor also spoke about how he deals with criticism and failures.
“I don’t know if I am strong. I still like to keep myself innocent and being a little soft because I should always be able to absorb that criticism. I shouldn’t build a strength to the point where I outright reject criticism. I think I am trying to be more clever in the way I absorb criticism, you know filtering out what is not good for me and taking in what is good for me. So, I am working more on that process and I am able to make that judgement better now. But in terms of strength, I as an actor, I always want to be vulnerable. I always want to be a child; I always want to be hungry. I always want to be intimidated. I want to have all these qualities in me. I think this is what will keep me going,” Chay told the interviewer.
Coming back to Custody, the film is slated to hit the big screens on May 12, 2023.
