Monica Bedi walked down the memory lane and recalled how she lost the opportunity of sharing screen space with Salman Khan in Karan Arjun.

After making her Telugu debut with Taj Mahal, Monica Bedi ventured into Bollywood with Saif Ali Khan-Suniel Shetty’s 1995 film Surakshaa. But do you folks know that the actress lost an opportunity to star in a blockbuster film which released in the same year? We are talking about Rakesh Roshan’s reincarnation drama Karan Arjun starring Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Kajol and Mamta Kulkarni.

In a recent chat with Siddharth Kanan, Monica revealed that she could have been a part of Karan Arjun had she not torn away Rakesh Roshan’s visiting card and had known that he is not just an actor but also a filmmaker.

Recalling her meeting with Rakesh Roshan at Subhash Ghai’s Holi party, she shared, “At Subhash Ghai’s Holi party, Rakesh Roshan walked up to me. I knew he is an actor, I had watched his films. But I didn’t know he is also a director-producer. So, he came to me and did some small talk. He gave me his card and told me, ‘Come and see me tomorrow.’”

Monica said that since she had no clue that Rakesh was also into making films, she got suspicious when the latter asked her to meet him. The actress continued, “I was like why is he calling me over, he is an actor. I tore the card and threw it away. I was like there is something fishy.”

Monica further added that it was only a few months later that she got to know about how she lost a big opportunity.

“After a few months, my manager asked, ‘Why didn’t you go to meet him? He was making this film called Karan Arjun and wanted you for the role which Mamta Kulkarni played opposite Salman Khan,” Kulkarni said.

Karan Arjun revolves around two reincarnated brothers who realize their identities and seek revenge upon their father’s killer.
