Madhur Bhandarkar confirmed that he wanted to make Inspector Ghalib with Shah Rukh Khan, but the pandemic had other plans.
Few years back, there were reports floating in the media that Madhur Bhandarkar is reportedly joining hands with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan for an action film titled Inspector Ghalib. In a recent chat with Pinkvilla, the Chandni Bar director confirmed that he wanted to cast King Khan in this film, but things didn’t materialize because they lost contact post pandemic.
Madhur shared, “Woh rakhi hai picture. It was a very good script. I have always wanted to make that film, and it was a beautiful subject. It’s about a cop in UP. It was a good world, a good setting. It didn’t happen though. The pandemic came, and then we lost contact. And then I just kept that script aside.
On being asked if he has any plans of reviving Inspector Ghalib in the future, the filmmaker replied in affirmative.
“Definitely I’ll revisit sometime. I would like to make that film. It’s an action-packed film but again, in a real zone. It’s a very topical subject, It’s an action film, but it has a very good subject. I’ll work on it. I may revive it someday when I feel I should make Inspector Ghalib. Definitely, I will make it,” Bhandarkar told the publication.
Currently, the National-Award winning filmmaker is working on two scripts. The Fashion director revealed that one is a very hard-hitting Mumbai story, while the other is Wives Of Bollywood which he had announced a few months back.
Calling his latter film ‘Page 3 with steroids’, Bhandarkar shared that his film revolves around how the wives in the film industry deal with the trials and tribulations, ups and downs in their lives,
“It’s not real life, but yeah, definitely it’s been inspired or derived from a lot of people. There will be fiction also to it. I feel that this is a very interesting subject, and I have had this title for a long time. Wives of Bollywood is like Page 3 on steroids. It’s a very different perspective of life and very contemporary,” he shared.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan’s next is King alongside his daughter Suhana Khan who made her acting debut with the 2023 Netflix film The Archies. The film also features Abhishek Bachchan in a pivotal role.
