Ali Abbas Zafar, in a new interview, revealed that he initially wanted to cast Katrina Kaif in his upcoming action entertainer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan headlined by Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff.
Katrina Kaif and Ali Abbas Zafar’s long working association dates back to the time when they first teamed up for Meri Brother Ki Dulhan in 2011. Over the years, they went on to collaborate on films like Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2019).
The filmmaker was keen to cast her in his upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan starring Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff. However, his plans got thwarted due to Katrina‘s jam-packed schedule.
Speaking about it, he told News18 in an interview, “She couldn’t do our film because she was busy with something else. I just hope that she keeps her dates free for my next film.”
Further, Ali also admitted that Katrina Kaif always remains his first choice when it comes to casting for the leading lady in his films.
Elaborating on the same, he shared, “Katrina is always on my mind when it comes to making any film. If I don’t cast her, she calls and tells me, ‘Why aren’t you taking me in your film?’ She said the same this time around too. Whenever I’ve worked with her, we’ve always shared a great bond as a director-actor duo.”
Ali Abbas Zafar told the publication that he believes that there’s a lot of potential in the ‘Tiger 3’ actress which largely remains untapped.
“I feel there’s a lot of potential in her as an actor. Be it Bharat, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan or Tiger Zinda Hai, she has done some really good work with me. Every time I make a film, the first call I get is from Katrina where she complains about me not casting her. She often asks, ‘Why am I not being offered this film?, he said in his chat.
Coming back to Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, the high-octane action thriller has a star cast comprising of Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff, Manushi Chillar, Alaya F and Sonakshi Sinha. Prithviraj Sukumaran features as the main antagonist.
The film revolves around two elite soldiers who set out on a mission to thwart a masked villain’s evil plan involving an AI weapon. Bade Miyan Chote Miyan is slated to hit the big screens on April 10, 2024.
