Director Ali Abbas Zafar shared the latest update on his much anticipated superhero film with Katrina Kaif in a new interview.

After teaming up on films like Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011), Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) and Bharat (2018),  it was reported that director Ali Abbas Zafar and Katrina Kaif will be reuniting for an actioner titled Super Soldier. Buzz was that the Zero actress would be seen performing some high-octane action scenes in this super hero film. Post that revelation, not much was heard about this ambitious project.

Now, in an interview with News18, Ali Abbas Zafar has shared an update on this Katrina Kaif starrer and clarified that their film hasn’t been put on the backburner.

The publication quoted the filmmaker as saying, “The superhero film was supposed to happen at one point of time but then Katrina got busy with Tiger 3. And then the pandemic happened. That film is very much happening but I am waiting for the right time to make that film. Right now, I am also engaged with few other films. When we find the right time and space and both of us are free, it will definitely go on floors.”

Ali also spoke about his bond with Katrina. He said that while they both share a great rapport, there are no pressures and expectations of constantly working with each other.

“We are very good friends, but we are also very professional. We talk to each other all the time, and I also bounce ideas off her and she does the same with me. We have always been like that,” said the Sultan director.

In the same interview, Ali also spilled the beans on his upcoming projects and shared that he is currently in the process of developing two women-led action movies.

He said, “There’s a plan of making an actioner with a female lead. We are actually working on two scripts, which are female driven and have some brutal action sequences. Inshallah, I want to do something in that world very soon.”

Ali Abbas Zafar’s last directorial was Shahid Kapoor starrer Bloody Daddy which premiered on Jio Cinema earlier this month. Katrina on the other hand, was seen in the horror comedy Phone Bhoot alongside Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ishaan Khatter last year.
